Environment and Pastoral Program

There are three components under this program named, community mobilization, reforestation and soil and water conservation. The overall purpose of this program is to reduce the worsening environmental degradation affecting agro-pastoralist in the country.

AYODA mobilizes and educates the communities in both urban and rural settlements in order to understand the value of their environment and to decrease the high number of tree cutting as well as to utilize it in better way.
To introduce the habit of reforestation we managed to establish a nursery with various species of trees which are distributed to the people to plant private and public places. In addition we create and motivate environmental clubs in the schools.
To lower the high speed of running water which damages farms and pastoral areas we build check dams, stone lines & earth bunds.

To promote sustainable development through community-based socio-economic empowerment targeting vulnerable youth, women, children, pastoralists, and people with disabilities while responding to environmental and climate change challenges in Somaliland.
